Portsmouth Faces Uncertainty Over Injuries Following FA Cup Upset at Chesterfield

Portsmouth is anxiously awaiting updates on the injuries suffered by two of their players as they assess the aftermath of their unexpected loss in the FA Cup against Chesterfield.

During Sunday’s nationally televised match against the National League leaders, Regan Poole and Tino Anjorin both sustained injuries in the first 44 minutes.

Poole injured his knee in the 11th minute while trying to fend off Will Grigg, and he was subsequently replaced as the right-sided center-half by Sean Raggett. Anjorin suffered a hamstring problem shortly before half-time while attempting to press a Spireites player.

John Mousinho anticipates that the news regarding their injuries will be a mixture of positive and negative in the next 24 hours. Mousinho stated, “I think Regan is okay; he twisted his knee but then returned to the bench. The only disappointment is that it appeared Will Grigg should have been offside, but the linesman slipped and hesitated to make the call. Regan received a slight knock and twisted his knee, and it doesn’t seem too severe, but we will need to assess it over the next few days. He walked off the pitch without crutches, so hopefully, he’s fine.”

He added, “Tino has a hamstring injury, and we’ve given him a crutch to reduce pressure on the hamstring. We don’t have a complete understanding of the extent of either injury yet. We will examine both injuries today and proceed accordingly.”

Portsmouth will face Leyton Orient in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night, with the injured players presumably unavailable for selection.
