Walsall boss issues his honest verdict after a stunning comeback win…

Mat Sadler commended his team’s character following a remarkable comeback victory in Walsall’s 4-1 triumph over Sheppey United at Holm Park.

Walsall initially fell behind in the 21st minute when James Bessey-Saldanha unleashed a long-range shot that found the top corner. Nevertheless, Walsall swiftly responded with a goal by Douglas James-Taylor, followed by a splendid strike by Tom Knowles, which put them in the lead after halftime.

Sadler expressed his delight with his team’s reaction, particularly after Sheppey United, an eighth-tier team, surprised them in the first half. He stated, “I believe they executed our instructions perfectly, even though we were taken aback initially.”

“It would have been easy for this setback to have a more significant impact than necessary. However, we have an exceptional group of players. Ultimately, our athleticism, combined with our quality, made the decisive difference.
