Grant McCann issues a stunning verdict regarding a the club…

Grant McCann is confident that Doncaster Rovers can follow in the footsteps of his Hull City team and the record-setting Stockport County by embarking on a long unbeaten streak.

Stockport County, leading in League Two, achieved their tenth consecutive league victory, and an eleventh in all competitions, setting two club records in the process.

During the 2020/21 season, McCann’s Hull team managed an impressive 14-game unbeaten run, including 11 wins, on their way to securing the League One title.

While Doncaster’s recent form isn’t as formidable, with six wins in their last ten league games, they currently rank sixth in the division’s form table during that period.

Speaking about Stockport’s remarkable run, McCann expressed his desire to replicate such success, reminiscing about Hull’s title-winning streak, saying, “It can happen; we want to try and achieve something similar.”

McCann believes that Doncaster Rovers have been steadily improving, particularly after a lackluster start to the season. It took them eight games to secure their first win, and they currently sit six points outside of the play-off positions.

McCann, whose team will face Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup first round, stated, “This group is capable of it. We just need to become stronger, keep our players fit, and have a positive impact from the substitutes, as we saw against Grimsby.”

Although Doncaster had an off day against Grimsby, they managed to secure all three points thanks to Joe Ironside’s second-half penalty. McCann mentioned, “If I look back ten or eleven games, perhaps we would have lost or drawn that game. We are beginning to exhibit a more ruthless side to our game.

While we may face defeats in some matches, our ability to bounce back quickly is growing. I’m hopeful that we can build on this momentum.
