Sheffield Wednesday owner faces transparency saga with EFL registration embargo imposition…

Demands for transparency are being directed at Dejphon Chansiri, the owner of Sheffield Wednesday, following the imposition of an EFL registration embargo due to late payments owed to HMRC.

Chansiri, a Thai businessman, issued a statement last month in which he expressed his reluctance to inject more funds into the club, citing what he viewed as unfair treatment from certain sections of the club’s fan base.

The exact meaning of his use of the term ‘additional money’ and the specific aspects of the club to which he refers remain unclear.

Since making this statement, Chansiri has made changes to the club’s management by appointing German manager Danny Röhl and three new coaches while parting ways with former boss Xisco and his coaching team, likely incurring compensation fees.

However, these recent developments have raised significant concerns about his commitment to financially support Sheffield Wednesday. Chansiri has consistently sought to assert his responsibility for the club’s operations.

Notably, the club has not issued any statement to explain the situation, and it is not anticipated that one will be released in the near future, according to The Star.

The Star has formally requested an interview with Chansiri and submitted a list of questions aimed at providing supporters with clarity regarding the embargo, the reasons behind the delayed payments, and the club’s future management.

In response to the news of Sheffield Wednesday’s embargo, the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust issued a statement demanding clarity on the matter and expressing deep concern. They are in communication with the EFL to address the issue.

The statement called upon Chansiri to address the situation promptly and present a clear plan to resolve the club’s financial troubles, as these developments have been a continual source of distraction and have hindered the new manager’s efforts to improve the team’s performance.

The Trust also urged all supporters’ groups and fans to unite in seeking transparency from the Chairman to secure the future of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.
