Former New Zealand rugby star and self-proclaimed golf enthusiast Dan Carter is enthusiastic about a new initiative in Ireland aimed at increasing participation in golf among individuals with disabilities.

During his recent visit to Dublin, Carter helped launch a partnership between Golf Ireland and ISPS Handa. This collaboration involves ISPS Handa sponsoring the Irish Open for Golfers with a Disability in June 2024 and becoming the primary partner for Golf Ireland’s Golf4All programs.

As an ISPS Handa ambassador, Carter expressed his support for the partnership, highlighting the alignment of values between ISPS Handa and Golf Ireland in their shared goal of making golf accessible to all. He expressed excitement about the potential of this partnership and its impact on golf in Ireland, emphasizing his personal passion for the sport.

Brendan Lawlor, another ISPS Handa ambassador and the world’s second-ranked disabled golfer, echoed Carter’s enthusiasm for the partnership.

Lawlor emphasized that the collaboration would provide opportunities for disability golfers at all levels, including G4D events, and would aim to introduce golf to children with disabilities and individuals from all walks of life, describing it as a fantastic development.
