Forest Green Rovers manager admits why he is not concerned with the 2-0 loss to Barrow at home…

“I’d be worried if we weren’t creating scoring opportunities, but we’re generating plenty,” Forest Green Rovers manager David Horseman expressed after his team’s 2-0 loss to Barrow on their home turf.

This defeat marked the seventh loss in eight league games for the Rovers, and Barrow quickly took the lead when Sam Foley’s long-range shot, deflected, found the back of the net just four minutes into the game.

They later extended their advantage as Dom Telford scored a scrappy goal 18 minutes into the first half. Horseman pointed out that they needed a faster reaction to the ball on the second goal.

Despite the disappointing result, the Rovers managed a total of 17 shots, with seven on target. Horseman stressed, “We had approximately nine significant opportunities, including seven one-on-one situations, which is a substantial number for any level of play, not just at this level.

If we can continue to create these chances, we will win games.” The Rovers had seven shots in the first half, with four on target, and added ten more attempts in the second half, with three on target.

However, Barrow’s goalkeeper, Paul Farman, made numerous crucial saves throughout the game, significantly contributing to the Bluebirds’ first league win since the end of September.

Forest Green Rovers have been struggling at home lately, managing only three points in eight league games. Horseman recognized the need to improve their defensive stability and goal-scoring.

He emphasized that creating chances is not the issue, as they consistently penetrate their opponents’ defenses.

Despite some fans expressing dissatisfaction after the Barrow match, Horseman defended his team’s performance and showed understanding of the supporters’ frustration.

He also addressed questions about potential changes at the top and stressed that the board and management share the same vision.

The decision to switch full-backs Fankaty Dabo and Marcel Lavinier from the previous game against Colchester United was made to counter Barrow’s strong player, Elliot Newby.

The loss against Barrow pushed Forest Green Rovers back into the relegation zone, with a home game against Crawley Town in the near future.
