‘He Must Shine’ – Portsmouth’s Longest-Serving Player Faces a Test to Secure His Fratton Park Future…

Haji Mnoga is under the spotlight, with John Mousinho emphasizing the necessity for him to make a significant impact in the National League this season to secure his future with Portsmouth FC. Mousinho insists that Mnoga, the club’s most tenured senior player, must be the standout talent in the fifth tier to earn a new contract.

Despite being just 21 years old, Mnoga has the longest seniority in the first team, having made his debut at the age of 16 in October 2018 under Kenny Jackett’s management. Currently on loan at Aldershot, Mnoga has shown promise, netting two goals in 13 appearances during his second stint at the Recreation Ground.

Mousinho has received positive feedback regarding Mnoga’s performance in the National League. However, he stressed that Mnoga needs to excel if he wishes to extend his tenure at Portsmouth beyond the expiration of his current contract next summer.

Mousinho mentioned that he personally hasn’t had the chance to watch Aldershot in action, but Rich Hughes and Phil Boardman have observed Mnoga’s progress at the club. Aldershot has expressed their satisfaction with Mnoga’s contributions, and his familiarity with the club from his previous season there has been beneficial.

Crucially, Mnoga’s contract is set to expire next summer, making it imperative for him to make the most of his loan experience. This is a requirement for all loaned players, but it’s particularly significant for Mnoga, given his professional status for the past couple of years.

To earn a place in Portsmouth’s first team next year, regardless of the league’s level, Mnoga must rise to the challenge and be the standout player in the National League. This is the expectation from him if he intends to return and play for the club.
