Portsmouth’s Injury Update: John Mousinho Shares the Latest from the Blues’ Treatment Room, Including Unlucky Former West Ham Player and a Returning Athlete…

Portsmouth’s list of injured players has been reduced to four following their last League One match. Connor Ogilvie has successfully recovered from a groin injury and is ready to join the squad for Saturday’s match against Carlisle as the in-form Blues strive to maintain their top position in League One.

However, Marlon Pack, Tom Lowery, Josh Dockerill, and Anthony Scully remain on the road to recovery, and John Mousinho provides an update on their progress:

  1. Anthony Scully, the Portsmouth forward, has been out of action since August due to injury, but the treatment room is slowly emptying, indicating a positive development for Pompey.
  2. Tom Lowery, who suffered meniscus damage to his left knee, is making significant progress under the watchful eyes of the physiotherapy team. The goal is to reintroduce him to modified training, likely after the Reading game on October 28. While a return to training this month seems unlikely, the expectation is that he’ll be back before the end of the year.
  3. Anthony Scully, who also suffered meniscus damage to his left knee, is following his recovery plan diligently. It’s anticipated that he will return to the field around mid to late December to ensure a safe and effective recovery.
  4. Josh Dockerill, dealing with ACL damage to his right knee, is steadily progressing in his rehabilitation efforts, primarily focusing on gym and bike exercises to regain full fitness.
  5. Marlon Pack, who experienced damaged ligaments in his left ankle, is making encouraging progress. He’s expected to be back on the field for training next week, with a return to full training anticipated within a week to 10 days. Careful management is crucial for his recovery, given the nature of ligament injuries.
  6. Connor Ogilvie, who had been sidelined due to a groin strain, has returned to training and is available for selection in the upcoming match against Carlisle. While he’ll compete with Jack Sparkes for the left-back position, he may start from the bench on Saturday..

Portsmouth’s manager, John Mousinho, emphasizes the importance of maintaining a humble attitude despite their current top position in League One…Mousinho, in his first full season with the club, has overseen an impressive unbeaten streak, with eight victories and four draws in the 2023-24 season.

He acknowledges the positive recognition from the media but warns against letting it become a distraction. Mousinho stresses the need for the team to stay grounded and stay focused on their objectives.

During the recent international break, Portsmouth’s players had a chance to recuperate and reset, which Mousinho believes was beneficial both physically and mentally.

Looking ahead to their upcoming match against Carlisle, Mousinho remains cautious, reminding everyone not to become overly fixated on the league table.

He underlines the importance of maintaining their focus, continuing to win, and letting the table take care of itself. The manager stresses that their primary focus should be on their own performance and winning the next game.
