“Playing time” – Ipswich manager speaks on his reunion with Tottenham Starlet and reveals the hindrance to the player’s development at Spur…

Kieran McKenna believes that Dane Scarlett’s limited playing time will ultimately contribute to his development as a player during his loan tenure at Portman Road Stadium.

Scarlett is highly regarded at Tottenham, where many see him as a potential future first-team player.

In a recent Carabao Cup match against Fulham, Ange Postecoglou even brought Scarlett on as a substitute in the second half and expressed his positive impressions of the teenager’s performance in training.

Scarlett spent the previous season on loan at Portsmouth, which didn’t go as planned. This season at Ipswich, he has yet to secure a starting spot, coming off the bench in all four of his Championship appearances.

McKenna, who has a history of working with Scarlett during his time as Tottenham’s academy coach, believes that the young striker’s time to shine will arrive.

He commented, “Dane is a promising young striker with a strong pedigree. He may have had to be patient due to his late arrival in the transfer window, but he’s a talented player, and his growth will happen with us.”

While Ipswich has started the season impressively and currently holds the second position in the table, McKenna is hesitant to alter a winning formula.

Nonetheless, it’s likely that the 19-year-old will receive opportunities in the near future, and it will be essential for him to make the most of them.
