“Outrageous” – Former Birmingham Mail Reporter Slams Coventry City In Defense of West Brom Fan; while Carlos Corberan is optimistic about Tom Fellows’ potential…

Chris Lepkowski strongly criticizes Coventry City for their “outrageous” decision to charge West Bromwich Albion fans £37 per ticket for their upcoming match against each other.

West Brom is scheduled to play against Coventry on October 30th, and they have been allocated 3,000 tickets in the away section of CBS Arena. According to the official Albion website as of October 6th, ticket prices are set at £37 for adults, £32 for senior citizens, individuals aged 18-21 and students, and £15 for those under 18.

During an episode of The Liquidator Podcast on October 10th, Chris Lepkowski, a former reporter for Birmingham Mail, expressed his disapproval, stating, “Charging such a high amount for a televised game is unacceptable. Let’s be clear, this is a terrible image for the club. However, they are doing it because they can, knowing that people will still buy tickets.”

Lepkowski goes on to emphasize that clubs can get away with charging increasingly higher ticket prices because they are confident in their ability to sell tickets, regardless of whether the game is televised or not.

The decision to charge this much for tickets is particularly concerning given the current cost-of-living crisis. Some may argue that diehard fans have the choice not to buy tickets, as following a football club is considered a luxury. However, Lepkowski believes that supporters should not be taken advantage of simply for wanting to watch their team play against a local rival.

While it might be tempting for West Brom to respond by increasing ticket prices for Coventry City fans during the reverse fixture at The Hawthorns in March, such a move would send the wrong message.

Lepkowski concludes by emphasizing the importance of all Championship clubs aligning with the “twenty’s plenty” campaign to ensure fair and affordable ticket prices for supporters.

Carlos Corberan is optimistic about Tom Fellows’ potential as a player following his brief appearance for West Brom in their recent loss to Birmingham City.

Despite the 3-1 defeat at St Andrew’s, Corberan believes Fellows has the makings of a promising Championship player.

Fellows, a 20-year-old winger, was brought on as a substitute when John Swift, Albion’s leading scorer, suffered an injury in the second half. Corberan praised Fellows and hinted at more playing time for him in the upcoming weeks.

Corberan acknowledged that his attacking options are limited, especially in light of Swift’s injury. He mentioned that if he had known about Swift’s injury in advance, he would have made a different substitution decision. However, in football, unexpected situations like injuries can occur.

For young players at a club like West Brom, proving themselves and earning regular playing time can be a challenge. Fellows will need to demonstrate that he can meet the high standards set by Corberan’s demanding style of football.

Fellows had a challenging season with Crawley Town in the previous year, with no goals in 28 League Two starts and only two assists in over 2000 minutes of play. Nonetheless, being only 20 years old, Fellows has time to develop his skills at the Championship level.

Corberan’s comments indicate his willingness to give Fellows time to adjust to the first-team environment and gain valuable playing experience.

With the current injury problems at The Hawthorns, Corberan’s options are limited, which could provide Fellows with more opportunities to showcase his abilities.
