The Detroit Red Wings have inked a one-year, two-way contract with experienced forward Zach Aston-Reese, as announced in a recent article.

Following this signing, the Red Wings have taken the step of placing Aston-Reese on waivers with the intention of assigning him to their AHL affiliate, Grand Rapids.

During the training camp, Aston-Reese had been on a professional tryout (PTO) deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. However, he was released by the Hurricanes on Friday.

Aston-Reese, who is 29 years old, spent the previous season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, achieving a personal best of 10 goals and four assists across 77 games.

Over his six-year NHL career, which included stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2017 to 2022, the Anaheim Ducks in 2022, and Toronto, Aston-Reese has accumulated a total of 80 points, comprising 42 goals, 38 assists, and 124 penalty minutes across 307 games.
