Portuguese Basketball Player to Train with Boston Celtics; Tatum expressed his surprise…

A Portuguese basketball player named Neemias Queta, who has represented Portugal at the international level, is set to undergo training with the Boston Celtics in preparation for the upcoming 2023-24 season, as announced by the NBA team.

Coach Joe Mazzulla has included Queta in a roster of 18 athletes. This opportunity comes after Queta’s release from the Sacramento Kings, where he spent two seasons, on September 13th.

On October 8th, TD Garden in Boston will be the venue for the first of five preseason games against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Similar to his previous experience with the Sacramento Kings, where he had a two-way contract, the 24-year-old Queta will have the flexibility to play for both the Boston Celtics and their affiliate team, the Maine Celtics. This arrangement applies to NBA games as well as contests in the Development League (G-League) involving the Stockton Kings.

In August of the current year, Queta initially signed a “standard contract” with the Kings but was subsequently released, making him a free agent eligible to join any other team to continue his professional basketball career. Notably, the Sacramento Kings had drafted him as the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, marking him as the first Portuguese participant in the competition.

Tatum surprised at Lillard joining Bucks; welcomes Holiday, Porzingis…

Tatum expressed his surprise at Damian Lillard joining the Milwaukee Bucks and extended a warm welcome to new Celtics additions, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.

The Boston Celtics are gearing up for the 2023-24 preseason, aiming to enhance their lineup and make a run for the NBA championship after acquiring Holiday and Porzingis during the offseason.

As the Celtics’ star player, Jayson Tatum expressed his excitement about having Jrue Holiday on the team, emphasizing Holiday’s championship experience and their shared success in winning a gold medal together.

Tatum praised Holiday for being a highly respected player in the league, highlighting his versatile skills on both offense and defense.

Holiday’s ability to contain opposing guards and even switch onto forwards adds a valuable dimension to the team, making him a reliable playmaker.

In the case of Kristaps Porzingis, Tatum noted the uniqueness he brings to the team, particularly highlighting his versatility as a low-post presence with exceptional scoring ability, including his impressive three-point shooting.

Tatum expressed optimism about Porzingis’s role on both ends of the court, provided he remains injury-free, and emphasized the need for time and gameplay to determine how their partnership will develop.

The Eastern Conference’s competition is expected to intensify in the upcoming season, especially with the Milwaukee Bucks acquiring Damian Lillard in a significant trade.

Tatum admitted his surprise upon hearing about the trade, as Milwaukee’s interest in Lillard was not widely anticipated.

He acknowledged the challenge of facing the revamped Bucks and their formidable roster, particularly Lillard and other key players.

Despite the tough competition, Tatum expressed excitement about the upcoming season, anticipating high-quality basketball due to the presence of several strong teams in the league.
