Forest Green Rovers manager gives a stunning verdict amid their upcoming match against Accrington Stanley…

We have enough potential to yield positive results from this game,” stated Forest Green Rovers manager David Horseman in anticipation of their upcoming match against Accrington Stanley.

The Rovers are on a quest for their first victory in six games, having endured five consecutive losses.

Despite their recent struggles, Horseman expressed his confidence in the players, emphasizing that he harbors no concerns regarding their performance.

This weekend, the Rovers will travel to The Crown Ground for the second time in a week, hoping to reverse their fortunes.

It’s worth noting that both Forest Green and Accrington were relegated last season, but Accrington has enjoyed a stronger start this season, currently sitting in 15th place after playing 11 games.

Horseman acknowledged Accrington’s strengths, particularly their ability to play both short passes and employ a more physical style of play. He stressed the importance of organization, seizing opportunities, and launching fast attacks in specific areas to secure a positive outcome.

While their recent game against Stockport County may not have been particularly encouraging, the return of key players like Fankaty Dabo, Jacob Maddox, and Callum Morton has provided a boost to the team. Horseman praised their talent and experience at higher levels of play, expressing optimism about their impact on the squad.

However, the manager acknowledged that building relationships among players and units takes time, and while these players will not start immediately, they are expected to gain more minutes in upcoming matches.

On a less positive note, Forest Green Rovers suffered a significant setback with midfielder Reece Brown sustaining a hamstring injury that will sideline him for eight to ten weeks. Horseman lamented the loss of Brown, both as a person and a skilled footballer.

Despite this setback, some injured players are gradually returning to training, providing a glimmer of hope for the team’s future performance.

Callum Jones and Jordon Garrick are expected to return relatively soon, while Jordy Moore-Taylor and Nathan Holland have longer recovery timelines.

The team had initially planned to train at Liverpool’s training ground but switched to Bolton due to facility availability and proximity to the venue.

Forest Green Rovers’ away record this season is comparable to Accrington Stanley’s home record, setting the stage for a closely contested match.

Historically, the Rovers have struggled against Accrington in the Football League, winning only once in four encounters. However, they did manage to secure a 2-1 victory last season.

Notably, Accrington Stanley clinched the League Two title during Forest Green Rovers’ debut season in the league, finishing five points ahead.
