Penguins Recall Ouellet, Pitlick, Smith, Hayes from AHL…

The Pittsburgh Penguins have brought back three players from Wilkes-Barre, showing that player movements between the two teams can happen in both directions.

These players, namely Ty Smith (a defenseman) and forwards Rem Pitlick and Avery Hayes, were originally assigned to Wilkes-Barre but have now been called back.

As a result of their return, the Penguins now have a total of 36 healthy players at their training camp, comprising 22 forwards, 10 defensemen, and four goaltenders. Additionally, there are five players currently on the injured list.

It remains uncertain whether these recalled players will take part in today’s practice, scheduled for noon at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

In another development, goaltender Joel Blomqvist achieved a shutout for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in their preseason opener, making 11 saves as they defeated the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 4-0 at the PPL Center in Allentown on Tuesday.

Noteworthy performances came from forwards Matt Filipe and Lukas Svejkovsky, each registering a goal and an assist, while Justin Addamo and Austin Rueschhof also contributed goals.

The Penguins’ upcoming preseason game will be played at home against the Hershey Bears on Wednesday at 10:35 a.m.
