Celtic considering ‘mega deals’ as players are set to receive contract extensions..

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor are poised to be the next Celtic players to receive contract extensions.

The club’s leadership wants these defenders to follow the recent trend of eight other players who have already signed improved deals with the champions.

The most recent addition to this group is Matt O’Riley, a skillful midfielder who arrived at Parkhead from MK Dons for a bargain £1.5 million in January last year.

O’Riley committed to the club until 2027 and made an immediate impact by scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Motherwell at Fir Park shortly after sealing his contract extension.

Reo Hatate also secured a new deal on Friday, joining fellow Japanese players Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda with contracts running until June 2027.

In addition, captain Callum McGregor and his teammate Anthony Ralston have already extended their contracts. Injured players Stephen Welsh and Liel Abada have also joined the list of players committed to the club.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, the USA World Cup centre-half, made his move to Parkhead permanent last summer in a £6 million transfer from Spurs. His current contract extends until June 2026.

Scotland international left-back Greg Taylor is also on the club’s radar for a contract extension, as his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2025.

This move is part of Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic board’s efforts to secure key players for the important seasons ahead, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
