32 year old Ipswich Town determined to retain his position in the starting lineup amid the return of his contender..

Ipswich Town’s goalkeeper, Vaclav Hladky, is determined to retain his position in the starting lineup despite the impending return of Christian Walton, who was the team’s first-choice goalkeeper last season.

Hladky, originally from the Czech Republic, only played one league game last season when Ipswich Town secured promotion.

However, he has been given a chance due to Walton’s foot injury and has performed well, conceding only seven goals in nine Championship matches this season.

Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk, Hladky expressed his desire to continue playing and believes his current form justifies his place in the team. He emphasized his dedication to hard work and helping the team succeed. Hladky also expressed his enjoyment of the season so far and praised the good shape of the entire squad.

Hladky’s journey to Britain began in January 2019 when he signed with Scottish club St Mirren. After 18 months, he joined Salford City, where he served as the first-choice goalkeeper during the 2020-21 season before moving to Ipswich Town.

Christian Walton, Ipswich’s primary goalkeeper for League One games last season, suffered a foot injury, specifically a torn plantar fascia, during pre-season. He recently returned to training.

Hladky showcased his skills with several impressive saves in a recent 1-1 draw against Huddersfield, and Ipswich Town has an opportunity to regain the top spot in the Championship when they face Hull City at home on Tuesday.

Hladky emphasized the team’s resilience and belief in their ability to score, acknowledging that this season will be challenging, but with hard work and fan support, they can continue to progress together.

Manager McKenna praised the team’s character and emphasized their focus on performance rather than just points. He stressed that consistent performance will ultimately lead to the desired results.

McKenna is currently awaiting updates on the fitness of forward Nathan Broadhead, who missed the Huddersfield game due to a thigh problem, and midfielder Lee Evans, who sustained a knee injury during the first half and had to be substituted.
