Former West Brom and Cardiff City’s Loanee expresses his reaction to West Brom’s impressive 4-0 victory against Preston…

Following West Brom’s dominant 4-0 triumph over Preston in the Championship on Saturday, Matt Phillips took to Instagram to celebrate the win.

Phillips, aged 32, notched the Albion’s third goal at Deepdale, marking his 30th goal for the club since he joined from Queens Park Rangers in 2016.

On September 30th, Phillips shared a photo of himself celebrating in the rain-drenched Lancashire, captioned: “+3 and a goal! Great job, team!”

Grady Diangana and Darnell Furlong, who also scored during the match, responded to Phillips’ post. Meanwhile, Karlan Grant, presently on loan at Cardiff City, messaged the Baggies’ longest-serving player with two heart emojis.

Despite some skepticism among Albion fans about his durability and ability to perform in crucial moments, there’s no denying that he has been one of Carlos Corberan’s top players during the early stages of the 2023/24 Championship season.

Corberan has had to deploy Phillips in various roles, with the 16-time Scotland international featuring on both wings, as a wing-back, and even as a striker.

In his nine appearances in the Championship this season, Phillips has scored two goals and provided one assist, with his performance against Preston arguably being his finest.

This victory was perhaps West Brom’s best showing of the season, particularly when considering that Preston had remained unbeaten before hosting the Baggies at Deepdale.

Next up for Corberan’s team is a home match against struggling Sheffield Wednesday at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night (October 3rd).

On paper, it may appear straightforward, but such matches often pose a challenge for West Brom, so hopefully, Corberan can eliminate any complacency from his squad ahead of this encounter.
