Walsall cast eyes over two free agents ahead of Bradford City trip..

Walsall manager Mat Sadler has revealed that they’ve been assessing two trial players, and now they face a decision regarding these unnamed individuals.

The League Two team is actively seeking a free agent defender due to recent injuries and the retirement of experienced player Chris Hussey.

Sadler mentioned to the Express & Star, “We’ve had a couple of players in for trials this week, and we’re in the process of making a decision based on their performances.

There’s a possibility we might evaluate one or both of them again next week, which should provide a clearer picture. It’s crucial to find the right fit, not just someone looking for a paycheck, but someone eager to contribute competitively.”

Walsall is being cautious not to rush into any signings and is carefully evaluating their options, considering the character of potential recruits. Several players have been available since last season’s conclusion.

Currently positioned 16th in the table with 11 points from their first nine games, the club aims to improve their form in the coming weeks to climb the rankings.

Walsall is just four points away from the play-off positions. They face Bradford City at Valley Parade this Saturday, seeking a rebound from their recent 3-1 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

The identities of the two trialists training with Walsall are currently undisclosed. However, Sadler’s immediate focus is on their upcoming match against Bradford City, with further developments in the transfer market likely to emerge in the next week.
