McCann’s Focus on Immediate Challenge in Building Winning Streak…

Rovers’ recent consecutive league victories have altered their early-season standing, but Grant McCann remains resolute in not looking too far ahead.

While aiming to ascend the Sky Bet League Two ranks swiftly, McCann emphasizes that everyone within the team is solely concentrating on the upcoming match against Barrow this weekend.

“It’s a step-by-step approach for us,” he remarked. “We do have internal benchmarks, typically assessing our performance every six games, but our primary focus is always on the next one.”

He further stressed, “Following last week’s match, our attention immediately shifted to preparing for Barrow. This week presents another three-game challenge, and it won’t be an easy one.

Barrow is a formidable team, particularly tough to face at home. Crawley is firmly in the top six after a strong start, and Stockport, although losing in the playoff final, has shown signs of improvement.”

McCann acknowledged the demanding schedule, saying, “It’s a challenging week ahead of us, but we’re eagerly anticipating it.”

Barrow, this Saturday’s opponent, has displayed a solid defense and offense in the early part of the season, and McCann anticipates a testing encounter at the SO Legal Stadium.

“They’ve achieved impressive results for a club of their size, and it seems they’ve carried that momentum into this season,” he observed.

“We’re fully aware that this will be another demanding match, and we’ve prepared diligently throughout the week. Hopefully, our performance will yield another victory.”

Reflecting on Barrow’s recent matches, he noted, “They had an unfortunate outing against Mansfield last week, but upon reviewing the game, they performed well.

They held Wrexham to a draw at home and have yet to suffer a defeat there. It’s consistently a tough contest at their ground.”

In positive news for Rovers, Tommy Rowe will return to the lineup following a three-match league suspension. McCann is also hopeful that other players recovering from injuries will be available for selection.

“We’ve seen one or two players back on the training pitch this week,” he shared. “Tommy Rowe is back after his suspension, and we’re optimistic that a few more may make their way back.

Everyone who featured last week came through without issues, so we’re heading into Saturday’s match with greater strength and more options than before.”
